Cycling

Cambridge is the home of cycling and Milton Country Park is the ideal place to cycle, both for beginners and those looking to do more. We have miles of off road track suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes. Our Cycle First group sessions offer new and inexperienced cyclists the opportunity to gain confidence in this safe environment. All of our cycling instructors are British Cycling qualified and here to help you.

Balance First - 45 min

  • 2.5-5 yr old with balance bikes

  • 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 10.30

Come along to Balance First, and practice fun, safe skills in a designated off road area. Get your kids moving and ready to move to a pedal bike in these small group sessions.

Bikes not available to hire, please bring your own. Helmets and gloves required. Parent/carer must accompany participant at all times. Please fill in and bring along this form to your first session.

Pedal First - 1h

  • U8s looking to progress with a pedal bike

  • 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 11.30

Pedal First is for Under 8s looking to progress from a balance bike or stabilizers. Perfect for helping with that tricky transition to pedals, tips provided for parents to help with practice! Our safe, off-road environment means children will get to enjoy time in a natural environment working on their confidence and building skills.

Small group sessions will include basic bike checks, maintenance tips and equipment information to inform most suitable choices for future purchases or development within the sport.

Bikes not available to hire, please bring your own. Helmets and gloves required. Parent/carer must accompany participant at all times. Please fill in and bring along this form to your first session.

Pedal First: Improvers - 1h

  • U8s looking to build confidence

  • 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 11.30 from April

For Under 8s looking to build confidence on their pedal bikes and those too young for CJCC. Ideal for those who need a bit of a confidence boost or practise on harder terrain before moving on to CJCC or other cycling. Our safe, off-road environment means children will get to enjoy time in a natural environment working on their confidence and building skills.

Cambridge Junior Cycling Club (CJCC)

  • Young People (5-16) who can ride a pedal bike

  • Weekly sessions at 1.30 and 2.30pm

  • Sessions are £10 for no-members, £6 for members

A British Cycling Go-Ride Club for all girls and boys who want to improve their cycling ability, whether for leisure and everyday riding or they want to progress to cycle racing.

Run by volunteers these sessions explore Milton Country Park and its dedicated courses. A great opportunity to practice different cycling disciplines and skills, even taking part in off-road races.

Participants must be able to pedal a two-wheeled bike without stabalisers in a controlled manner, listen to and obey instructions. Bring your own bike, helmet and gloves. British Cycling membership is NOT required. A consent form is required for the first session.

First Gear - 1h

  • Young People (8-16) and Adults looking to progress with a pedal bike

  • Private sessions for up to 6 people

For young people (8-16) or adults wishing to learn to ride a bike in a safe, off-road and natural environment. Small groups to allow confidence building with the option for young people to move on to CJCC and adults to join Head First, our mindful cycling group once they progress to independent cycling.

Head First - 1.5h

  • Confidence building trail cycling for adults (16+)

  • To start Spring 2024

Mindful cycling for those who are looking for confidence building, or a group to cycle with, in a relaxed environment. A relaxed and leisurely cycle pace taking in trails and routes in a beautiful setting. 

 

Sessions will be tailored to the participants needs.

You Can Bike Too

  • Inclusive Cycle Hire

  • Weekly sessions from March - November

Our award winning, all ability, volunteer led, inclusive cycling project! These sessions are not lead by instructors but allow everyone to hire a bike, whatever their ability. Come and try a variety of bikes designed to allow anyone to take part in the wonderful activity that is cycling. Please see the YCBT page for more details

This is not an instructor led session. Carers/parents remain responsible for participants at all times.
