Kids at the Fest 2019!

Sunday Sept 22nd 10.30-5pm

The Autumn festival is nearly upon us!  It looks as though the sun is going to shine (yes really!) and we have a packed line-up for you!  If you're bringing the kids there is plenty to keep them happy all day long with wild outdoor adventure and woodland games.
Let their imagination go wild in the park!!  Dressing up is actively encouraged!

Creative Movements
Meet characters from the land of Oz mingling at the fest then join them in the Enchanted Forest from 2-3pm for story-telling with role play and movement.  
Where: Roaming all day then in the story circle at 11am, 1pm, 3pm
How: Find Dorothy at the story circle.
Cost: FREE (aimed at 2-6 year olds).

Family Yoga
Practice animal and nature inspired yoga positions then finish with a poem.  
Where: The Wild Place Lawn
How: Drop in sessions, no need to book
Cost: FREE (all ages).

Wild Bushcraft
Campfire, marshmallows, teepees, mini dens and clay animals, storytime 3.30pm  
Where: The Wild Place Firepit
How: Book on the Wild Place Gate. Sessions at 11am (u7s), 12pm (7-12yrs), 1.30pm (u7s), 2.30pm (7-12yrs), 3.30pm (u7s)

Family Mindfulness
Mindfulness of nature sessions with sensory games.  
Where: The Wild Place
How: Book on the Wild Place gate. Sessions at 11am and 2pm
Cost: Donations (all ages).

David Wege Nature Detective
Learn how to read and interpret wildlife tracks and see skulls, bones, feathers.  
Where: The Wild Place Hut
How: Drop in sessions, no need to book
Cost: FREE (all ages).

Wild Thyme and Embers: Bushcraft Sessions
Bushcraft for all ages including fire bowl, bracelets and flower crowns!
Where: The main path
How: Drop-in all day.
Cost: Small cost for materials 

Miniature Steam Train
So popular every year, Milton Country Park is again playing host to a lovely miniature steam train!
Where: Remembrance Meadow
How: Just turn up
Cost: £1 per ride

Herbal Walks with Vanessa Neville
Visit the herbal bus and go on a trail to find the medicines that grow around us. With Local medical herbalist Vanessa Neville (NIMH)!
Where: Beside the Wild Place
How: Walks 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Book on the Wild Place Gate.
Cost: There may be a small charge.

Canoe Safari
Follow a trail around Todd's Pit lake and explore the lakes Canadian style!  
Where: Todd's Pit from the pontoon
How: Book in advance online or at the main entrance on the day *these sessions sell out early.
Cost: £10 per boat (2 adults, one child or one child two adults. Age 4+)

Facepainting & Glitter
Find Glitterbugs in the play area!

Wood Craft Folk
Make and take home Viking braiding and friendship bracelets with the Wood Craft Folk!
Where: In the sunclock
How: Drop in sessions, no need to book
Cost: FREE

30 minute taster fishing sessions run by FPAS.  Have a go and see what you can catch!  Supported by the Environment Agency with their large fish tank which will be filled with the fish caught during the sessions.

Pond Dipping
Find and learn about the mini-beasts living in Deep Pool! Sessions run by the environment agency

Apple Pressing
Help the orchard volunteers chop their apples with their bike-powered apple scratter!

How: Pop in and say hello!
Cost: FREE donations for the freshest juice you could possibly taste!

Happy Donkeys
Meet and ride these lovely, happy donkeys!
Where: The Playground
How: Drop-by all day!
Cost: £3 per ride

Comfy Cycles
Hire these colourful cute bikes, which can fit up to five people, and explore the beautiful park!
