This area of the Park is actually owned by Milton Parish Council but is managed as a part of the Park and it's run as a nature reserve with only limited public access via a rough path around the north west edge which connects the Tomkins Mead and Old School Lane entrances.
The rest of the land is wetlands and an important riparian land drain flows through Tomkins Mead and forms the small lake in the middle.
Something to look out for when you walk along the path is that you pass through an old hedge. So when you start at the Tomkins Mead entrance you are east of the hedge. Just after you walk over the board walk you go through the hedge to the old trees on your right are now old hedging trees including hazel and hawthorn.
There is a particularly fine old tree, one of Paul's favourites, near the north end of the line. Here's a photo of him leaning on it.
