the "hidden" pool

We don't think this pool has a name but it's an important part of the habitat of the Park and we know is as the "hidden pool" as it was, until recently, not too visible from the paths. It's located to the east of Deep Pool and there are two culverts linking it to Deep Pool and also to Dickerson's.

The water level in the pool does go down quite significantly in the Summer so we suspect it drains independently of Dickerson's. This wetland habitat supports a range of wildlife and now seems to be the swans preferred nesting site (they have previously nested in the reeds at the northern end of Todd's.

Recently the Rangers have cut back a lot of the hawthorn scrub on the western edge which separates it from the path and that's rather changed the character of this pool.
