The 13th public drain is an "award" drain which runs through the Park. It runs along the southern edges of Todd's and Dickerson's and passes under the balcony of the Visitor Centre.
It's significant for dog walkers because they can walk their dogs off lead (so long as they're under proper control) north of the 13th public drain. South of the drain they must be kept on a lead.
Award drains are major drains which help drain the land of excess rain and, unlike private "riparian" drains they are maintained by the district council who clear the drain regularly and cut back the vegetation to ensure it can carry a good volume of water.
